Smaks was a regional hamburger chain in the Missouri and Kansas area. The first restaurant opened in 1956. Smaks was known for its cheap, quick hamburgers, thick shakes, and hand dipped onion rings. Pressure from national chains caused this business to declare bankruptcy in 1983 and three years later all Smaks were gone. Fun fact… Smaky the Seal became the mascot in 1964. He gave his “seal of of approval” to the food at Smaks.
