Lanierland Music Park: Georgia's Legendary Outdoor Concert Venue

In the hills north of Atlanta, near the shores of Lake Lanier, Georgia had one of the great outdoor concert venues in the American South: Lanierland Music Park.

The Venue

Lanierland Music Park operated in Cumming, Georgia — a small town in Forsyth County that became, on concert nights, a destination for music fans from across the region. The outdoor amphitheater setting, with the Georgia hills as a backdrop and the summer air carrying the sound across the grounds, made for a concert experience that no indoor venue could replicate.

Country music was Lanierland's heartland. The venue drew the biggest names in country — artists who were filling arenas in Nashville and New York but who came to Lanierland because it was the kind of place where the music felt right.
