Lanierland Music Park: Georgia's Legendary Outdoor Concert Venue
Share
In the hills north of Atlanta, near the shores of Lake Lanier, Georgia had one of the great outdoor concert venues in the American South: Lanierland Music Park.
The Venue
Lanierland Music Park operated in Cumming, Georgia — a small town in Forsyth County that became, on concert nights, a destination for music fans from across the region. The outdoor amphitheater setting, with the Georgia hills as a backdrop and the summer air carrying the sound across the grounds, made for a concert experience that no indoor venue could replicate.
Country music was Lanierland's heartland. The venue drew the biggest names in country — artists who were filling arenas in Nashville and New York but who came to Lanierland because it was the kind of place where the music felt right. For Georgia country fans, a night at Lanierland was the real thing: outdoor, unpretentious, and deeply Southern.
The Community
Lanierland was more than a concert venue — it was a community institution. In a part of Georgia that was still largely rural, the park brought people together around music in a way that felt genuinely local. The crowd at a Lanierland show was your neighbors, your coworkers, your family — people who drove out from Atlanta or up from the suburbs to spend an evening under the stars.
The Lanierland Music Park Cumming Georgia Retro T-shirt is for everyone who made the drive. Find it in the Atlanta collection.
