Known as the “Great White Store”, Block and Kuhl was located at the corner of 124 South West Adams and Fulton in downtown Peoria. This department store was the preeminent retail establishment in the area. Block and Kuhl expanded into 19 stores, with 17 in Illinois and 2 in Iowa. In 1961, Carson Pirie Scott & Co. took over the business.
