Originally opened in 1962 as the Tallyho Hotel, it was rebranded as the Aladdin in 1966 after a $3 million renovation. The resort gained fame as the site of Elvis and Priscilla Presley's secret wedding on May 1, 1967, held in a private suite to avoid media attention . Despite undergoing several ownership changes and renovations, the original Aladdin closed in 1997 and was demolished in 1998 to make way for a new resort.
