Alpha Beta was a chain of grocery stores located in the southwestern US that were in operation from 1917-1995. Pomona, California was the site of the first Alpha Beta. The name comes from the organization concept used in grocery stores of putting items in alphabetical order. All stores were eventually purchased by other companies and rebranded.
