Boblo Island, Detroit's Coney Island, entertained visitors from 1898 to 1993. This amusement park was located on Bois Blanc Island, Ontario and was an 18 mile ferry ride from Detroit. Popular attractions included roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, zoo, carousel, and Scootaboats. Henry Ford financed the dance hall, which in its day was the second largest in the world.
