The Bon Marché was a beloved Seattle department store founded in 1890 by Edward and Joseph Nordhoff. Its downtown flagship became a city landmark, celebrated for quality merchandise, stylish displays, and a strong community presence. The store later expanded to suburban locations, shaping retail across the Puget Sound region. Acquired by Marshall Field & Company in 1929, it eventually became part of Macy’s in 2005, retiring the Bon Marché name.
