The Edgewater Beach Hotel was a legendary Chicago resort that opened in 1916 along Lake Michigan. With its private beach, spacious grounds, pools, and elegant dining and entertainment, it became a favorite destination for celebrities and prominent visitors. The hotel was especially popular during the 1920s through the 1940s, attracting stars including Babe Ruth, Nat King Cole, and Marilyn Monroe. It closed in 1967 and was demolished between 1969 and 1971, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of Chicago’s most glamorous lost landmarks.
