The Flipside Records chain kicked off in 1971 thanks to Larry and Carl Rosenbaum. At its peak, it boasted 12 stores around Chicago and 25 across the Midwest. It wasn’t just about the freshest records and tapes—you could also snag clothes, electronics, music gear, and even concert tickets for Chicago shows. Sadly, shifts in the music world led to the chain closing its doors in 1992.
