Fred’s Dance Barn opened in 1967 as a place for families to come and listen to good country music. The atmosphere included old wagon wheels, rusty horseshoes and a mechanical bull. Everyone was welcome to bring your drink and dance on the largest dance floor in southern Illinois. A drop in attendance caused the place to close in 2006.
