Goofy’s was a legendary Minneapolis nightlife spot on Second Avenue North, best remembered for its upstairs venue, Goofy’s Upper Deck. Opened around 1981–82, the Upper Deck became a gritty, intimate home for the city’s emerging hardcore punk scene. Bands including Black Flag, Bad Brains, The Minutemen, Social Distortion, Hüsker Dü, and others played there. The venue closed in 1983 following a notorious riot, and the building was later demolished for the Target Center parking area.
