KBL Sports Network, originally known as the KBL Entertainment Network, was launched in Pittsburgh in 1986 as a regional sports channel. Initially owned by Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI), it primarily broadcast Pittsburgh Pirates games and other local sports content. In 1994, the network was rebranded as Prime Sports KBL following its acquisition by Liberty Media. Two years later, in 1996, it became part of the Fox Sports Net family, adopting the name Fox Sports Pittsburgh. Over the years, the network underwent several ownership and name changes, eventually becoming AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh.
