In 1977, the Peoria, IL radio stationWKZWwas formed from the previous station WMBD. WKZW played Rock Top 40 and was known to its listeners asKZ-93. The station was an instant success. In 1983, the station transformed into playing mainstream Top 40 hits. KZ-93 was well loved and earned its title as a highly rated station in Central Illinois.
