Libertylandwas a beloved Memphis amusement park that opened on July 4,1976 on the Mid-South fairgrounds. This park was home to Elvis's favorite wooden roller coaster, the Zippin Pippin. The Grand Carousel was also a classic ride that is now located at the Children's Museum in Memphis. Besides the usual amusements, Libertyland had other quirky attractions like a dolphin show and an ice skating rink. Financial difficulties were the reason the park closed in 2005.
