McAlpin’s was a historic Cincinnati department store founded in 1852, with its landmark downtown location on Fourth Street opening in 1880. It became a central shopping destination and later pioneered suburban retail, opening branches in shopping centers starting in 1954. The store was eventually acquired by Dillard’s in 1998, retiring the McAlpin’s name after nearly 150 years.
