Media Play was a retail chain founded in 1992 by Musicland. Essentially, the stores were an electronics, book, movie music, and video game store all in one. Rockford, IL was the first location and the chain eventually grew to 72 stores in 19 states. Increased competition caused Media Play to close in 2006.
