The New York Express were a short-lived but fascinating Major Indoor Soccer League team that played at Nassau Coliseum during the 1986–87 season. The club was fronted by former New York Cosmos goalkeeper Shep Messing and featured stars such as Rick Davis and Andranik Eskandarian, giving fans plenty of recognizable soccer names. After a promising exhibition run, the Express struggled badly in the regular season, finishing 3–23 and folding in February 1987 after just 26 games.
