Every Labor Day Weekend for 29 years, On the Waterfront was the premier music festival in downtown Rockford. It began in 1984 to commemorate the city’s sesquicentennial anniversary and featured national & local bands and tons of food and craft vendors. On the Waterfront ceased operations in 2012 due to financial difficulties, but left a long-lasting legacy of fun, memories and pride for the entire community.
