Oz Records and Tapes was a vibrant record store chain that enchanted music lovers in Alabama and Georgia from the late 1970s through the early 2000s. Opening its doors in November 1976, the flagship store in Atlanta's Buckhead area offered more than just music; it provided an immersive experience complete with a spiraling yellow brick road, life-size mannequins of "The Wizard of Oz" characters, and mechanical flying monkeys transporting purchases to the cashier.  Beyond selling contemporary music across various formats—like vinyl, 8-tracks, cassettes, and CDs—Oz Records also featured clothing, concert tickets, and unique gifts.
