Ram’s Head Rathskeller—fondly known as “The Rat”—was a beloved Chapel Hill hotspot from 1948 to 2007. Tucked away in the basement of the Old World Candy Shop on Franklin Street, this cozy hideaway became a rite of passage for UNC students and a favorite local hangout. Famous for its “Gambler” steak and legendary cheesy lasagna, patrons loved carving their initials into its well-worn wooden tables.
