Rich's Discount Department Store was a family-owned retail chain that began in 1962, evolving from Jerry's Army-Navy Surplus in Salem, Massachusetts. Founded by Jerry Rich, along with his sons Bennett and Howard and son-in-law Joel Saxe, the store expanded to 29 locations across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. Offering discounted brand-name merchandise, Rich's became a popular destination for budget-conscious shoppers in New England. Facing increasing competition and market challenges, Rich's filed for bankruptcy in 1996 and ceased operations by early 1997.
