For more than 60 years, Riverview Park was the quintessential Chicago amusement park. Opening in 1903 along Belmont and Western Avenues, Riverview perhaps became most famous for its thrilling roller coasters — The Bobs, The Comet, The Silver Flash, The Fireball and more. The Aladdin's Castle fun house, a classic Tunnel of Love and the Pair-O-Chutes parachute ride that was mentioned in a Beach Boys song were just some of the many other attractions that thrilled park goers for generations. Skyrocketing land values led to the park's closure in 1967, but the Riverview Carousel is still in operation at a Georgia amusement park.
