The Stone Toad was a popular music club in downtown Milwaukee for much of the 1970s and 1980s. Rock acts, blues acts and more entertained club-goers, and when it got hard to fill the schedule with live acts every night, the owners of the Stone Toad turned the downstairs into a disco. The club underwent several name changes, including The Toad Cafe and simply The Toad and the music evolved too as the club played host to alt-rock, punk and grunge bands in its later years. Today, the former Stone Toad building is still there, used as offices, but the music plays no more.
