Tandy was an important player in the early days of home computers. They were formed by a 1963 merger between Tandy Leather and Radio Shack. The release of their TRS-80 in 1977 led the charge in the home computing revolution. They were the highest seller of computers until 1980. In 2001, the Tandy name was dropped in favor of Radio Shack.
