Thunderbird was a Native American-themed restaurant serving Italian food in Champaign that opened in 1959. There was even a totem pole outside the restaurant made by a chief of the Ottawa tribe. In 1964, the original building was razed and Thunderbird moved to Urbana. It stayed in business until the 90’s.
