Wallichs Music City was the coolest California record store chain in its prime. They were the first to display cellophane-sealed albums in racks and to have listening booths. If you needed a music fix, Wallichs was open until 2am. They had the distinction of being the world's largest speciality record store. Increased competition led to its closure in 1978.
