WDAT 1380 was a longtime radio station serving Daytona Beach, Florida, taking its call letters in 1969 as a nod to “Daytona.” The station carried several formats over the years, including contemporary, adult contemporary, and eventually country music. During the 1980s, WDAT became known as a country station and developed a loyal following among local listeners. The WDAT call letters were retired in 1986, when the station became WELE, bringing an end to a memorable chapter in Daytona Beach radio history.
