WKTQ, better known as "13Q," was a high-energy Top 40 AM radio station that shook up Pittsburgh’s airwaves in the 1970s. Launched in 1973, it became famous for its rapid-fire DJs, exciting promotions, and a playlist packed with the biggest pop hits of the era. The station was a major competitor to KQV and helped define Pittsburgh’s radio scene during the golden age of AM pop radio. As FM stations gained popularity, 13Q eventually faded, shifting formats and later becoming a talk station.
