WXVX, affectionately known as "X-15," was an alternative rock beacon on Pittsburgh's AM dial during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Broadcasting on 1510 AM from Monroeville, this station dared to challenge the FM dominance by spotlighting emerging artists like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, offering listeners a fresh and edgy musical experience. Despite its passionate following, X-15 faced financial hurdles and ultimately ceased its alternative rock programming on January 1, 1996.
